KORA

Back in April we were lucky to witness the rehabilitation of a beautiful female Olive Ridley turtle, whose rescue we documented whilst staying at The Seraya in Komodo National Park.

The poor turtle was trapped in a giant ghost net and without assistance would have faced certain death from sun exposure and starvation. She was cut free from the net which had tangled around her fins, yet it soon became clear she was unable to dive and was in great distress, so the decision was made to bring her back to shore to create a rehab tank for her to regain strength and have a much needed rest before attempting to return her to the ocean.

She was successfully released a week later back to the bay where she was found; her rescuers named her Kora.
